The Occupy Movement may be deemed to have come to an end as the protest sites were cleared in mid-December 2014. However, the class boycott in late September and the 79-day Movement have triggered an awakening of many Hong Kong people’s concern for politics and brought substantial impact to the society. The Hong Kong Principals’ Institute is very pleased to have invited Dr. Law Chi Kwong, Associate Professor of Social work and Social Administration, the University of Hong Kong and veteran member of the Democratic Party, to share his views on the post-occupy political situation on 9 March 2015.
二零一四年十二月中的清場行動後，「佔中」或可視為告一段落。可是，九月底的罷課及長達七十九天的佔領事件，喚起了很多香港人對政治的關注，亦為社會帶來重要的影響。二零一五年三月九日，香港校長中心邀請了香港大學社會工作及社會行政學系助理教授及民主黨資深委員羅致光博士，與大家分享對香港佔中後的政治境況的看法。

傳媒對佔中的評論
究竟是佔中造成其後的政治境況抑或是轉變中的政治境況造成佔中？羅致光認為兩者皆有影響。而就傳媒評論所見，傳統左派報章與比較中立的報章對佔中的影響評述各異。傳統左派報章/新華社/人民日報認為佔中催化了社會撕裂。佔中不但影響了香港政治穩定及法治，更影響香港經濟競爭力、經濟發展及民生。相反，其他比較中立主流傳媒則認為831 的決定，加上928香港警方處理手法，促成了佔中的規模及發展；某程度進一步催化社會撕裂。
統戰策略的變化
社會撕裂的不斷發展，源於90年代北京在港統戰策略的變化。
$1(1) 1989 前北京統戰了香港的絕大多數，包括了所有支持回歸的民主派人士
(包括李柱銘、司徒華、滙點、太平山學會、民協等)。
$1(2) 1990-1994北京把與支聯會有密切關係的民主派劃清界線 (主要是港同盟)。
$1(3) 1994 (彭定康政改後) 至2012 北京與泛民劃清界線 (初期核心對象主要是民主派。）
$1(4) 2012 – 佔中前: 北京對泛民有著敵我矛盾，若隱若現的態度。北京（以李飛及王光亞為主) 口中已經由初期說「泛民中也有愛國愛港的」 到後期變成 「泛民中大部分都是愛國愛港的」。佔中前後，北京已經開始採取「你發動群眾，我也發動群眾」的策略。到佔中發生後，北京對泛民的「敵我矛盾」，已經顯而易見。
佔中的政治影響
羅致光認為在佔中問題上各黨派都是輸家。問題是誰得多，誰失少。除曾鈺成以外，所有政黨人士評分大降，泛民立法會議員尤甚。綜合各方評論，泛民政黨是最大輸家。北京統戰策略「空前成功」，因為民主派聲望已經急促下跌，政府應「乘勝追撃」。根據特首核心支持者言論所評論，佔中是過往緃容所至，日後北京態度應更強硬，以杜漸防微。
結語
面對政治洪流，各黨派應該如何自處？政治家究竟「中間人」抑或是「忠奸人」？期望政府與政客能穩持基本價值與原則，能虛心學習與聆聽；不要總自以為是，不要信自己是客觀的。大家應尊重人性、尊重差異、尊重人，做好自己應做、要做的事。
Dr. Law, Chi-Kwong GBS, JP
is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong (1976 B.Soc.Sc, 1981 M.S.W.), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (1986 M.B.A.), and the University of California, Los Angeles (1988 D.S.W.). He is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, University of Hong Kong. His researches cover areas in urban renewal, digital inclusion, management in human services, social enterprise, welfare reform, employment assistance programmes, and community building and planning.
Aside from his academic duties, Dr. Law has long been involved in the community and public service. He is a member of the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association Chairman (Chairman: 1996-2006; Hon. Treasurer: 2006-now), Hong Kong Council of Social Service (Executive Committee Member: 1990-now; Chairman of Information Technology Resource Centre Business committee: 2004-now; Vice Chairman of Internet Learning Resource Centre: 2011-now), Social Work Committee of Caritas-Hong Kong (Member since 1991, Chairperson since 2005), Hong Kong Christian Service (Management Committee Member since 2004, Hon. Treasurer since 2012) and Hong Kong Boys & Girls’ Clubs Association (Management Committee Member: 1988 – now) .
Dr. Law is also appointed member of Steering Committee on Child Development Fund (since 2008), Land and Development Advisory Committee (since 2009), Commission on Poverty (since 2012), Statistics Advisory Board (since 2014), Commission on Strategic Development (since 2005) and Justice of Peace (since 1998).
Dr. Law is awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2014 and the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2005.
