  • by

HKPI has arranged a seminar on “Developing Mediation Culture, Enhancing School Harmony” for Principals and Vice-principals of Primary, Secondary and Special Schools on 24 March 2014.  It is hoped that after the seminar, the participants can have a better understanding of the meaning and skills of mediation, and be able to develop a mediation culture to enhance school harmony and to handle conflicts, disputes and complaints in school more effectively.

The seminar was held in the School Hall of Kowloon Tong Government Primary School with over a hundred participants.  The speaker is Mr. Roy Cheng, the Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Mediation, a Trainer, Assessor and Accredited Mediator of HKIAC (Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre) and HKMAAL (Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited), a Certified Trainer of Mediation Training Institute (USA) and the Adjunct Lecturer of HKU SPACE.  Through role playing, Mr. Cheng has demonstrated the process and skills of mediation in a lively and interactive way.  He has also explained the causes and ways of handling workplace conflicts.  The participants found the seminar enlightening and useful, and many of them would like to pursue further on bringing what they have experienced in the seminar into their own schools.
